Hello,
Another week flew by ... This working thing is crazy... who invented it?
I have this idea to track stuff I see or experience - see if it makes good fodder for a book. I think I will try to do this ...
For example: Today I tried to enter the Metro Car to ride to my next class - and these women, who appeared to want to be near the door, would not move to let me on the train. They looked at me as if I was the crazy person - I just want to take a ride too - lady. Why are their needs more important than other's? How do they know I will stay standing in front of the door, thereby preventing them from exiting at the next stop - maybe I will exit too - what do they think of that?? oh wait - I woudl be preventing them from being FIRST ... I get it ...
Some positive stuff - As i shared - Steve was here two weeks ago for 4 days - had a blast.
Friday night, last, I and Robbie went to shoot a couple games of billiards - turned into an all nighter again - home at 1.45am -
When I arrived home I found out Todd got ont he BCN flight! Well, guess I better get a move on!
Got online, booked a train ticket to BCN and Back - for the weekend with time to have coffee if needed before teaching on Monday. My 8.30 am was cancelled for Monday!
Pack up some clothes and as I am headed to bed I realize I booked the 6.30 am train and the metro does not open until 6.00am - oopssssss pisser - How am I going to get there in time?
Too cheap to take a cab - so I decide to take a nap, no shower, get up and walk to the train station - gave myself an hour. It worked - got there in 30 minutes, time to figure out how to pick up my ticket and pass through security. YES Folks, the Europeans have figured out how to ex-ray luggage going on trains... seems simple enough to me ...
Any way ... at 5:30 am the walk through the center of Madrid is much different when you are mostly sober - The drunks are funny lookin and actin. I now know what we all look like..
Had a very nice time in BCN with Todd - it is fun to have American visit ... keep coming over
The other thing is a met a guy that had some really good suggestions on learning Spanish more quickly and I am going to take his suggestions. I am not going to get hung up on making the 900 Euros or 1100 Euros - I am focusing on Spanish ...
Well, heading out for my Intercambio with Carmen -
More later
adios
Beto
