Holy Crap - two weeks more have flown by - this has got to stop! At least I am having a good time!
Last weekend 5-7MAR we all went up to San Sebastian - in the Basque region of Northnern Spain, 20 KM from France. It is a small coastal city of about 185,000 people with beach front - fishing - sailing - old part (original city) and most importantly the food - Pintxos (Pinchos). Pintxos are Tapas like food that the bars serve for a small price. Generally they are the most flavorful snack you could ever imagine. Our favorite was the Bacaloa at the Bar Martinez.
The city is very beautiful surrounding playa de la concha - the horse shoe shaped beach. At each end of the horse shoe is a mountain. The one to the east end has a Statue of Christ and he over-looks the old part and the whole area. The other mountain has an amusement park, a hotel and rail service to the top. I did not do this second peak as there was not enough time to go all the way over there. However, I did climb the hill with the Christ statue - the pictures are on Facebook.
There were 15 of us together most of the time and we all got along famously and enjoyed each other's company. Paul turned 23 at the end of the weekend so we helped him celebrate his pending anniversary. This included a party on the beach at midnight Saturday, afterwhich Peter and Paul tried to have a rational conversation with other younger drunks, which was quite funny to watch.
So very glad I went - was so much fun!
The work weeks are unchanged from previous posts - some weeks i have more hours than others, but it is working out. Spanish is coming along slowly and I am changing professors again to remain at level 3 at the academia. The class I was in is moving to level 4, which I am not ready.
This weekend I am taking it easy as I am fighting yet another cold - complete with sore throat -
Plus I have lots of work to do around the apartment for classes. Hope to get time to see a movie.
More to follow
Adios
