NOTE: the last post I dated wrong it was july 12th, but you knew that.
Just to update on the work situation. June and July were very lacking in hours, but I gained knowledge in how to prepare for next year. No work, no pay = financial stress ... I shall move on from this and await the start of the new school year with the goal of improved assignements and gained incomes.
But first: Holiday- heading out tomorrow or Monday for the US. First time back in 10 months - uncertain how it will flow, but it should be fun. First on the agendy is going to NYC with sis & the boys - KJ & Ry's first time. Nana bought Lion King Tickets!!
Plans are to be in SYR or BALTO/DC much of the time; with trips to BOS, CHI; and if time permits - SFO & HOU&ATL
My last two weeks here were different. Not the usual shared time among friends and a lot of mindless - time killing - nothingness. On one hand not productive - yet on the other I used the time to rest, think about the path ahead, etc.
In addition, I was recovering from a 4 week cold - in the chest caughing, runny nose kind of fun. It finally got so I could not take it and went to un medico - interesting concept these doctors - they have these small white objects they call pills of antibiotics that releaved the Respitory Infection within a short time!! Note - I did avoid neumonia!
You mean I could have felt better sooner - damn - if only.
Last Saturday, the 17th, my intercambio buddy and I went to Aranjuez. It is about 40 minutes south by cercania and very nice little town. There are two palaces - the large one was started by Filipe II in the 16th century and parts added throughout the 18th century. Very large country estate used by the Royals for Spring and autumn retreats. The second and smaller palace was a rest spot while out hunting. Mind you it is only a 25 minute walk from the first palace. This location has no sleeping rooms - it was strictly for entertaining and a place for the Royals to "get away" from the happenings in the palace. what can I say.
It was a nice day and I believe I am up to 16 cities/towns visited outsie of Madrid in the 10 months here.
It is with mixed emotions that I leave for 4 or 5 weeks. My things here will be stored at a friend's place and upon my return I will need to find a place quickly. I have an offer, but it is not centrally located, so I have decided to wait until SEP to find something.
