sabado 09-01-10 21.45h

Hola,

Thursday night we all got together for a"quick" beer because Paul & Anna are back. Anna was too tired, but Robbie made it that night! Everyone was glad to have Paul back among us, even though he did not feel well; and they all enjoyed getting reconnected with Robbie (he has been busy with girlfriend & family).

Sometime during the chatter the gals decided they needed a girls night out for Friday. So, we had to plan a guys night. Robbie reminded us we wanted to play billiards. The game was on - so we hoped.
On Friday afternoon he told me he found two in the center of town. We passed the word - Robbie fixed lunch for us - and we headed out about 17.00h. Well, the first place does not exist any longer. Damn. We spoke with the security guard at the office building with the same address - told us the bad news and then he looked on line and found a place way back up north where we live ... Not going there now.
We went next door and got on-line ourselves. Got the address of the 2nd place near Puerta del SOL and found another near Peter's place.
We communicated to the guys what was up - in case there were coming - although we only knew of Peter joining us; John had interest but had vanished.

Off Robbie and I go to find the other place. Guess what - out of business. Well, shall we try the 3rd place we found on-line?? Sure, oh wait - lets grab a "quick" margarita at this cute Mexican Restaurant. We made friends with the staff, some guy at the bar from Guanajuato and probably made fools of ourselves. Never did try the food, except a plate of Nachos with Chicken. Did have one Margarita and then found out they have Negra Modelo - my fav - had a case of those (kidding).
Five (or six) hours later and 60 Euros ($90); with Peter in tow - we headed to find the 3rd option. Mind you we are slightly skunked - We walked all over looking for the place - we should have been clued in when no one knew of it ... It too is out of business. WTF - no billiards in madrid city?? We were not happy! 12.30 am and we never accomplished our target objective.
Oh well, lets grab some more beers and go to Peter's place - convenience store pizza and cheap beers are good at 1:00am.
Had a guy chat with Robbie on the metro ride home - poured myself into bed. I think I posted something on FB too - he he.
If only I was still in my 20's too ....
I feel good that I can keep up with them. Everyone is laying low tonight, but tomorrow evening we are at Erica's to watch Baltimore and New England play Football - with Tacos
Someone remind me I have to work at 8:00 am on Monday.
adios
Beto
