Hey
Okay, I do not like to talk out of school, but I have to tell one story.
One of the guys in class, John, he is 25 and very handsome. He either is truly the dim bulb, or he is playing everyone like a master of cons.
Throughout the program he increasingly made comments that had us in stitches, but I can not recall them all - should have written them down to post. But this would then be about John and not me. Anyway ...
In the last week the teacher asked: " In this sentence, what is another word for "THE" (pronounced THEE) John pipes up - THE (Pronounced the American way) We could not stop laughing.
Back to me:
If you missed facebook - Today in Madrid was great! I had an interview at 10:30 am - did not get the 4 hours per week she had, Erica was there first and go the job. Happy for her.
For me the Academia may have a position at a company that is hiring them to start in DEC or JAN - not holding my breath - but hoping.
Walked the city and at one point thought of myself as Julie Andrews in Victor Victoria - walking the streets in my Sunday best - looking for work - smelling the fresh bread and knowing I could not afford it .... (NOT really mom)
So, i had a list of about 6 places to go - stopped at all but one (could not find it) One I had an introductory meeting - not certain how he feels about me. Asked about visas and such - they sponsor, but they need to confirm a person's commitment. One told me to come back at 4pm, which I did and I start tonight - it is only 4 hours per week - but a foot in the door!!
I'll let you know how it is later.
The other thing I did was go to the Intercambio tonight - got invited to a table of Spanish speakers and we spoke mostly in English. Two are teachers with connections and they have my number. One of them I will meet with a couple times a week and trade English for Spanish lessons.
Over all - a great day!
gotta go to bed ...
Beto
