Friday night in Spanish class we had a pot luck - there was food from the US(2) - London (1) - Ukrane (1) - Poland (1) - Syria (1) - Brail (3) - Australia (1) - Austria (1)
The food was wonderful and we had a fun time. Afterward a few of us went for drinks, I had a nice chat withthe professor.
Saturday 6 of us met in Retiro and sat int he sun and drank and laughed - it was a beautiful afternoon!!!
Today David Iberra and I went to Avila - about 90 minutes by bus to the northwest of Madrid. It is a walled in medieval city of old buildings, narrow streets and a cathedral that was started in the 12th century. If we translated a plaque correctly on an old palace - Queen Isabel was born there!!! It was the seat of the Royals of Castilla y Leon some 800 years ago. The wall around the city is amazing and one can walk around the top of much of it.
Had a really wonderful weekend - and because my spanish teacher is now my "friend" on FB I have to talk about my trip in class tomorrow - guess I better prep some vocabulary.
