Domingo por la noche, 25/26Abril 2010 - 00.35h

Hola,

Friday was very busy - taught two classes - Jose Maria and Angel - then ran home for a snack - walked to the insurance company to meet Maria Jose. Her friend was very helpful on how the Health coverage program in Spain works. To buy insurance I could get a discount if i had an account at Santander bank. They told him they would open an account for me, but when we went to two locations we were told - no I could not open an account. So, back to the insurance company - he got me a discount any way - 57 Euros per month for Medical. Maria Jose will look into how I get the number I need to participate in the free health care option.

After all this running around I ran off for my Friday afternoon with Carmen over lunch - practicing Spanish. - that was fun and different this week. Some of the food was not as good as usual and the owner had a screaming match with a woman she was trowing out of the restaurant. After 3.5 hours I ran home to meet with Quentin, my roommate, we had beers and dinner as I helped him with his English. He had a TOFL Exam on Saturday morning.

I stayed in -

Saturday I was up early - got a few things done - it was such a beautiful day I grabbed my Spanish books and walked over to Retiro - had a sandwich in the park - napped and started to study when I saw Brady and his friend. Joined them and then David I. showed up. We had fun speaking in Eng & Span - went home at 5pm to get ready for dinner. Eight of us met for Indian food - my first since moving here, it was very good - but expensive. We all went to Erica's for more drinks - the rest of the crew showed up -
About 12.30 am they all went out - I went home as I had to get up to catch a train.

Sunday morning I got up at 07.15 got ready and headed down to Atocha to take the train to Alcala - a suburb 30 km east -My student / friend Joaquin met me at the station - we went to his home, got the bikes readay - headed out - his two neighbors joined us and we rode into the hills of Alcala.
Yes, I went mountain biking for a couple hours and had a blast!!! the scenery was beautiful and the ride was challenging and not
After - Joaquin provided refreshments and we laughed about the day (by the way - all of this is in Spanish)
Then we got cleaned up and grabbed the Sidra (cyder) and snacks - other neighbors joined us, Joaquin's wife Julia and two sons - Carlos and Joaquin as well.

We eat, drank and laughed some more. Then Joaquin and I went to the kitchen and he taught me to make piella. His family and I had a lovely two course meal that Joaquin prepared; followed by various desserts; cafe; and at least 4 different alcholic beverages - on top of the beers, sidra, wine

After we rested a bit - Joaquin drove me around Alcala to see the town and then the train. I had such an absolutely fantastic day, with them!!!!!
On the way into the city Peter called and I joined them at Retiro by the lake - Erica, david, Jessie, Peter, Paul, Anna, David I - we drank - laughed - got silly - had an over-all good afternoon. Sun set at 21.00h - WOW it is only Abril -

Okay gotta go to bed.
Beto
